Headsets
You are going to be wearing these headsets for long stretches so you have to have something comfy. Look for gaming headsets that go around your ear, rather than sitting on the ear. A USB connection works best on a computer. You also need a noise-cancelling mic with mute button. This comes in handy if you need to cough or yell at your kids! Here are 2 good options.

I love this headset! I wear it for hours on end and it doesn’t hurt my ears. It’s a gaming headset so it’s light but it has a noise-cancelling mic and great sound. It has a headset connection but comes with an adaptor to plug it in to a USB port on your computer. It has a mute button and volume toggle on the left ear and the mic lights up red if it is muted. How many times have I gone into class with my mic muted? This reminds me to unmute. When you’re ready for a really good headset, choose this one.

Webcams and Lighting
If your camera built into your computer is not clear or bright enough, first, clean the lens (yes, really, it could be that simple). If that doesn’t work consider investing in an external camera. Many times they are much brighter.

This ring light has it’s own tripod and comes with some filters to soften the light a little or give it slightly different colors. It also plugs into your computer for power but doesn’t have a battery.

I was using a photography light with LEDs and it was too harsh. I got these photography umbrellas and it softens and filters the light to give you just the right coverage.
